Anas Rana
Founder & CEO
Having lived and worked on three continents, his passion for exploring and discovering cultures, nature, and history is unmatched. As one of Off the Maps founders, his vision to connect travelers with unique experiences is at the heart of his and the company’s philosophy. He is the driving force behind sustainable practices and the company’s mission to bring peace and prosperity through understanding each other.
When he’s not working to discover distant lands and untouched nature, Anas loves to cook and play with his three boys. He speaks four languages and is currently learning Arabic and Spanish. While he doesn’t like to pick favourites, Anas would never say no to a trip to Tibet.
KATHERINE REHBERG
Similar to Anas, Kathy has also lived and worked on three continents, with her favourite countries being Pakistan and Peru. Throughout her travels she has instructed educators on other cultures and has proudly taught thousands of students across the globe. She values nothing more than connecting with students and helping them succeed.
When she is not educating others, Kathy is inventing new learning skills and teaching herself a number of languages, including Arabic, Urdu and Spanish. She has also taken Latin and Hebrew classes and is fluent in English, French and German. Outside the classroom, Kathy enjoys baking, bird watching and a good nature walk.
OMAR QUINTANA
Community Programs and Lead – Peru
Born and raised in the Andes, Omar was named after the famous Hollywood star Omar Sharif. However, Hollywood Omar can only dream of the life that Omar Quintana leads. Omar is passionate about the Inca and pre-Inca history, culture and traditions. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Quechua, an indigenous language spoken by the Quechua peoples who primarily reside in the Peruvian Andes.
When he is not organizing community programs, Omar is an avid birdwatcher, hiker and the most amazing baker. While COVID-19 devastated tourism in Peru, he created Peter Pann, a hearty side hustle that sells artisanal bread. To him, a trip to Peru is not complete without a visit to the Sacred Valley and Colca Canyon.
CARLA LIZARRAGA
From Arequipa Peru, Carla is not only an amazing guide and trip leader but she is also responsible for handling all the logistics for Off The Map Adventures. Where travelling and leading trips are her passion, she is also a former model and a mother of two beautiful kids.
Carla speaks Spanish, French, Aymara and English and loves to read, craft and organize – which greatly benefits us at Off the Map! According to her, you can never go wrong with a trip to Latin America.
SAYED ALAGOUZ
Logistics and Lead – Egypt
By profession an Egyptologist, Sayed is passionate about the history and archeology of Egypt. He has lived and worked in three continents, but his love for Egypt has always brought him back to the Nile Valley.
When he’s not sailing the Nile and staying in de-Nile about his age, Sayed loves to hit the gym. He is fluent in English, Arabic, German and Spanish and is torn between the Valley of Kings and the Sinai Peninsula for his favourite place to visit
DEEPAK SHRESTHA
A true ambassador of Nepal and for the people of Nepal, Deepak has a deep passion for sharing facts about his beloved country. When not leading trips, he runs an English teaching academy for the poor community in Kathmandu. He loves nothing more than learning new skills and spends his free time reading and hiking.
Deepak is fluent in four languages; English, Nepali, Maithili and Hindi. Whether it is going up the Annapurna base camp or sipping tea in the back streets of Kathmandu, he is a great person to hang out with. And if you’re lucky, he may even teach you how to wash an elephant.
Usman Awan
Managing Partner – South Africa
As a former Air Force fighter pilot, Usman has a strong admiration for discovering new territory with a bird’s-eye view. From Cape Town to Johannesburg, he knows all the secret spots where one can simply stand and marvel at the beauty of South Africa. While he does not fly anymore, he can certainly drive you along the scenic Garden Route.
Usman loves to make people laugh and help them out anyway he can. He speaks Africans, English, Hindi, Urdu and Pashto. When asked his favourite place to travel, his answer was simple: “in your prayers and thoughts”.
LILLIAN KRAMER
You can take Lilly out of Africa, but you can’t take Africa out of her. Born and raised in Tanzania, Lilly is an ambitious woman with a passion to serve her clients. Whether it’s handling a safari in the Serengeti or climbing Kilimanjaro, she knows all the nitty-gritties of planning and executing a successful trip.
Lilly loves to work almost as much as she loves to relax and spend family time with her little angel. She is currently learning Dutch on top of being fluent in English and Swahili. Staying loyal to her native roots, her favourite place is nowhere outside of Africa.
