D1 – Mon / Wed / Fri           TASHKENT

Welcome reception upon arrival at Tashkent Airport by Turkish Airlines, FLIGHT TBA. Transfer to hotel (immediate check).

In the afternoon proceed for city tour:

  • Applied Arts Museum, situated in the former home of Imperial Russian diplomat Alexander Polovtsev
  • Khast Imam Complex (Barak Khan Madrassah, Tillya Sheikh Mosque, Kaffal Shashiy Mausoleum and Holy Koran)
  • Chorsu Bazaar – one of the most authentic historical markets of Uzbekistan.
  • Kukaldosh Madrassah, the largest madrasah and one of the most famous historical monuments of Tashkent.
  • Metro Stations – view some of the most beautiful metro systems ever constructed.

D2 – Tue / Thu / Sat             TASHKENT – SAMARKAND (By Train)

In the morning transfer to train station and take Afrosiyob train (07:28-09:42 / 08:30-10:38) to Samarkand.

Upon arrival city tour

  • Registan Square- ‘Sandy Place’ a medieval commercial center. Enjoy mini concert and mini lecture about national music instruments at Sherdor Medrassah.
  • Happy Bird Craft Center- meet with local artists.
  • Bibi Khanym Mosque – in the 15th century it was one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the world.
  • Famous Siyob bazaar.
  • Shah-i-Zinda – ‘Tomb of the living King’ an avenue of Mausoleums with one of the richest tiles works. It is connected with the legend that Qusam ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (swa) is buried here.
  • Afrosiyob Museum – located at the historical site of Afrosiyob.
  • Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum – the final resting place for Timur (Tamerlane), his two sons and two grandsons.

D3 – Wed / Fri / Sun            SAMARKAND

After breakfast proceed for city tour. Visit:

  • Ulugbek Observatory – one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world.
  • Hodja Doniyor Mausoleum (Saint Daniil) is one of the most famous religious sites in Samarkand, was built in the time of Tamerlan in 1900.
  • Hazrat Hizr Mosque (Hazret-Khizr, Hazrat-Khizra), built in the XIX century.
  • Khudjum carpet factory – Witnessing all stages of silk carpets creation, from unwinding the silkworm cocoon to drawing carpet ornament. All operations are performed manually.
  • Kalantarov’s House Museum (an old mansion, once owned by a rich merchant Kalantarov Abram built in the early XX century by the architect E.O.Nelle in the eclectic style, is located the Museum of local lore).
  • Optional: Khovrenko wine factory and enjoy wine tasting with mini lecture at secret cellar

D4 – Thu / Sat / Mon           SAMARKAND-BUKHARA (by train)

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to the station. Take morning Afrosiyob train 09:44-11:25 to Bukhara. Upon arrival city tour of Bukhara, visit:

  • Labi Hauz complex- Architectual ensemble Lyabi-Khauz is formed with three large, monumental buildings: Kukeldash Madrasah, Khanaka and Nodir Divan-begi. The center of old Bukhara large ensemble became a reservoir.
  • Jewish Synagogue – This functioning synagogue was built in 16th century and protected by government.
  • Magoki Attori Mosque- Built on the site of the pre-lslamic Moh temple.
  • Trade Domes – Medieval Bukhara was a big business city receiving merchants from Central Asia and other parts of the world.
  • Bozori Kord Khammam (Sauna bathroom)-dating back to XIV century.
  • Abdullakhan Tim-A huge, roofed shopping passage of XVI century.
  • Ulugbeg madrassahs – The only survived building in Bukhara of Timurid-era.
  • Abdulazizkhan madrassahs – is a part of architectural ensemble of Ulugbek Madrasah.
  • Poi Kalyan complex with Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan Mosque and Miri Arab madrassah.
  • Folk Show at Nodir Devon Begi (if available)

D5 – Fri / Sun / Tue              BUKHARA

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed for a full day city tour.

  • Naqshbandiy complex -It is dedicated to the founder of the Sufi Order “Naqshbandia”.
  • Sitorai Mokhi Khossa – A suburban residence of last Bukhara emir built during 1912-1918.
  • Chor Bakr – Built over the burial place of Abu-Bakr-Said one of the four of Abu-Bakrs – descendants of Muhammad
  • Kogon Palace – The last Emir of Bukhara ordered to build this palace in the honor to host Russian Tsar.
  • Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum (House) -Bukharian architectural style of the late XIX century.

Return to hotel for fresh-up and free time to explore the ancient town.

D6 – Sat / Mon / Wed           BUKAHRA – AYAZ KALA / TOPRAK KALA (440 km, 5 – 6 Hours)                                     KHIVA (120 km, 2 Hours)

After breakfast at hotel drive to Ayaz Kala/Toprak Kala along the Kyzylkum desert. Photo stop at Amudaryo riverbank. Ayaz Qala, Topraq Qala and other sites of ancient Khorezm State settlements, now located on the territory of Karakalpakstan. This 2000-year-old ruined city fortress, 350 by 500 meters and framed by the brooding Sultan Vais Mountain, is the dramatic and best explored in the region. About 2500-3000 years old settlements flourished during I Century BC – III Century AD under Kushan patronage. The later collapse of Kushan and White Hephtalite rule left the region open to devastating Turkic raids which destroyed irrigation canals and lead to the depopulation of the town in the sixth century. Afterward drive to Khiva, upon arrival in Khiva transfer to hotel and check-in.

D7 – Sun / Tue / Thu KHIVA

After breakfast proceed for a full day city tour of Ichan Kala:

  • Ata Darvaza – One of four gates of Ichan Kala dating back to 1842.
  • Madrasah Allakuli Khan – Built in the middle of the XIX century with the richest decoration in Khiva.
  • Madrasah Muhammad Amin Khan – Erected during 1851-1854 by the order of Khiva ruler Muhammad Amin-khan.
  • Kalta Minar – Translated as “short”. Initially, it was expected to become the highest minaret in the East.
  • Kunya Ark – “Old fortress” was Khiva rulers’ residence and inner citadel, founded in the XVII century.
  • Muhammad Rahimkhan Madrasah – built in 1876 by order of Seyid Muhammad-Rahim II (1863-1910), known as the poet Feruzshah.
  • Juma Mosque – 16th century mosque with 213 elmwood pillars belonging to different epoch of history starting from 10th
  • Tosh Hovli Palace – Translated as “a stone courtyard”; built during 1830-1838 to replace Kunya Ark.
  • Islam Khodja Minaret and Madrasah – The ensemble dating back to the beginning of XX century was named after the Prime Minister – Isfandiar Khan who sponsored its construction.
  • Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum –   a famous poet and wrestler of XIV century.
